The Practical AI Toolkit
Fifty copyable AI prompts for teachers, ten lesson-planning prompt templates and a complete safe-use checklist. Everything is free to copy, adapt and share inside your organisation.
1. No identifiable learner data: never paste names, contacts or anything that could identify a learner. 2. Use organisation-approved tools only. 3. Check every output before it reaches a learner. 4. Keep the original full-level resource available. 5. Check assessment and awarding-body rules where work is assessed.
A strong prompt names six things: role, task, context, constraints, format and a check. Replace every [square-bracket placeholder] before you press Enter. If a prompt asks for facts, dates or references, verify them — AI can produce confident answers that are wrong.
50 Effective AI Prompts for Teachers
Search or filter by category, then copy any prompt straight into your approved AI tool. Each card shows the suggested audience, what to expect, and a check-before-use reminder.
Ten lesson-planning prompt templates
Longer, fuller versions of the planning prompts, each with the components it should include and a check-before-use note. Worked for FE contexts but adaptable to any phase. Cross-links: planning basics in AI for Educators; inclusive adaptations in SEND & Inclusion.
AI Safe-Use Checklist
Tick your way through before, during and after using any AI tool. This supports professional judgement — it does not replace safeguarding, organisational policies or data protection advice. A line-manager discussion alone does not constitute formal approval.
1. Is this tool approved? 2. What am I not allowed to type into it? 3. Who checks the output? 4. Does anything assessed depend on this? 5. What would I do if this went wrong? — If any answer is “don’t know”, find out first.
